Sebastian Fundora is predicting an easier fight for him in his rematch against former WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu this Saturday, July 19th. Fundora (22-1-1, 14 KOs) says he’s “evolved” since his 12-round split decision win over Tszyu (25-2, 18 KOs) in 2024. He’s saying that he’s going to “execute faster” this time.
How much is Fundora Tszyu PPV?
Fundora will defend his WBC junior middleweight title against Tszyu at the MGM Grand, Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event will be shown on PBC on Prime Video PPV starting at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT. The cost is $79.99.
“The fight before was a very violent fight, a very bloody fight. We plan on doing that again,” said Sebastian Fundora to ESNEWS about his rematch against Tim Tszyu on Saturday. “Stay resiliant. Stay focused on the game plan. As soon as I started listening to my dad in the third round, everything started working right.”
That would be bad for Tszyu if he’s cut again, because he doesn’t react well to his blood leaking. If he gets cut again on Saturday, he may fall apart and be easy prey for Fundora to finish off. It would be a good idea for Tim’s corner to pull him out if he’s cut, because he may not respond well to Fundora’s shots.
“In this fight, I feel like we’re going to execute a lot faster. I just go on what I saw in the ring. I’m speaking from my opinion. If it was bothering him that much, I think he would have stopped the fight,” said Fundora about his view that the cut Tszyu suffered last time they fought didn’t play a factor in the outcome.
Fundora sounds like he plans on going after Tszyu right away on Saturday. He may have to. Tim still has a chip on his shoulder about his loss last year, and he’s going to come out of the blocks fast. He’s been thinking about his bloody defeat, trying to make sense of what happened to him. Tszyu has put up a good front, acting tough, blaming the defeat on his cut. But fans know the truth. He couldn’t deal with the size and high work rate of Fundora.
Is Fundora expecting an easier fight?
“I have nothing to prove. I’m just happy to put on a great fight again for all these fans. I do think so,” said Fundora when asked if he thinks this will be an easier fight for him than the previous one. “We’re evolving in the sport. I’m 27 years old. That fight was last year. That was a big gap in time.”
An easier fight means Fundora may score a knockout. That would be a huge blow to the career of Tszyu, losing for the third time in his last four fights. If Tim loses again and doesn’t have a cut or a concussion to blame his loss on, he’d have to confront the truth about his limitations. He’s not good enough to beat the better fighters at 154. His loss to Fundora last year and his brutal third-round knockout defeat against IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev already showed the truth about Tszyu’s lack of ability.
“In that year, I became the unified champion. I hope not,” said Fundora when asked if he thinks Tszyu will be using a lot of lateral movement. “I want the best Tim Tszyu. It’s been a year since we fought. He’s grown and learned some things. So, I do expect the best Tim Tszyu.”
Tszyu is unlikely to box Fundora because he had his best success early in their previous fight a year ago, when he was slugging. After Tim sustained a cut in the second, he lost his composure and began swinging for the fences. He can’t afford to let his emotions get away from him on Saturday because Fundora will take advantage of his wildness.
