Manny Pacquiao is open to fighting Gervonta Davis next if he’s victorious against the WBC welterweight champion Marios Barrios on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Manny Pacquiao Promotions COO Sean Gibbons is interested in Manny fighting Tank Davis next, provided he wins against Barrios.

The 46-year-old Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) is the underdog against Barrios. It’s been four years since Manny last fought, and it’s unknown how he’ll perform against the 30-year-old Barrios.

WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis’ rematch with Lamont Roach, which was supposed to occur on August 16th, is in doubt after Tank’s arrest last Friday for a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. If that fight is now delayed or canceled, it leaves an opening for Pacquiao to fill the gap to fight Gervonta in a mega-clash.

Gervonta Davis: Four-Division King?

Shakur Stevenson has been campaigning hard for the Tank Davis fight, but he has not proven to be a draw on PPV or a ticket seller. Moreover, his fighting style is nowhere near as entertaining to watch for fans as Pacquiao’s. It would be an obvious choice for Grevonta to make in picking between Shakur and Pacquiao for his next fight. Fighting Pacquiao would provide Tank with the opportunity to become a four-division world champion. Not many fighters have done that.

“Once Manny gets the WBC 147-pound title, it would be a great 47th birthday present to make the fight in December. But everything begins on July 19 against Mario Barrios,” said Sean Gibbons to Ring Magazine about Manny Pacquiao potentially fighting Gervonta Davis next in December. “If Pacquiao beats Barrios and Davis beats Roach, I think that’s the fight. Gervonta pushes the buttons and is a household name.”

Pacquiao needs to drink from the Fountain of Youth to restore himself to the vintage form that he’d displayed when he wiped out Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton in 2008 and 2009.
