Oscar Duarte (28-2-1, 22 KOs) has a difficult fight in front of him on Saturday night, February 15th, with Miguel Madueno (31-3, 28 KOs) stepping in as the substitute opponent to replace injured Regis Prograis in the 12-round main event at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California.  The event will be shown live on DAZN starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Duarte’s exciting style makes him one of the more entertaining fighters in the 140-lb division. He’s a pure brawler who never stops coming forward. In his fight against Ryan Garcia in 2023, he pushed him to the brink. Ryan’s left hook power saved him from a loss.

The Change-Up

Madueno, 26, is taking the fight on short notice after Prograis pulled out with an injury. This could be a nightmare for Golden Boy, as Madueno gave Keyshawn Davis huge problems in their fight on July 6th last year. He pressured the 2020 Olympic silver medalist and forced him to bend the rules, turning the contest into a WWE wrestling match.

Davis came unglued mentally in that fight dealing with Madueno’s pressure, and he might have lost if the referee had done his job by penalizing the Top Rank-promoted fighter for repeated fouls. Madueno looked like 24k gold in that fight. In an ideal situation with a ref on his JOB, he’d have exposed Keyshawn as fake. He’d be coming into Saturday’s contest with Duarte under much different circumstances.

“We’re excited about Oscar Duarte. He’s in a tough fight. A late replacement is sometimes disappointing, because people are thinking, ‘One week notice.’ No, this fighter is coming to knock out Oscar Duarte,” said Oscar De La Hoya to DAZN Boxing about Miguel Madueno being brought in as the replacement opponent to fight Oscar Duarte in the 12-round main event on Saturday night on DAZN.

“It’s going to be an incredible card from top to bottom. You think about the Mexican style, the Mexican warriors. He [Madueno] comes forward. He knows how to move, but his knockout power is relentless. The main event is going to be way more exciting than the original main event with [36-year-old Regis] Prograis. We wish Prograis a speedy recovery. We hope he gets well soon. This main event with Oscar Duarte is going to be an incredible fight,” said De La Hoya.
