Daniel Dubois says he can’t wait to test the chin of Joseph Parker when he defends his IBF heavyweight title against the surging former WBO champ in the co-feature bout this Saturday, February 22nd, in Riyadh.
Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) will try to outbox Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), possibly hoping to make him quit as Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce did. Dubois feels he’s improved a lot since winning his last three fights, but fans have doubts.
The Quitting Question
The saying goes, ‘Once a quitter, always a quitter.’ That would be a huge blow to Dubois’ career if he quits in this fight or is knocked out because he’d turned things around in his last three fights. It’s doubtful that Dubois could come back if he quits on Saturday.
There’s pressure on these two to perform well, as the fight will be shown live on DAZN PPV. Many fans will be ordering this event worldwide because it’s one of the most stacked cards in this generation of boxing.
Many fans are second-guessing Turki Alashikh’s decision to place the Dubois-Parker fight in the chief support fight rather than some of the other interesting fights on the undercard.
It’s understandable why people would criticize the placement of this fight in such a prestigious spot on the card because Parker has been boring to watch in his last two fights against Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder.
“I’ve got the tools to pull out of the bag whatever I want. He’s going to give it his best, and I expect that. I’m going to be ready for that,” said Daniel Dubois to BoxNation about Joseph Parker. “No gimmicks or nothing. I’m just ready for a fight now. If he’s coming with that again, then they’ve got to hype their man up,” said Dubois when told that Parker’s team believes he’ll quit.
“Going to be entertained for sure. I’m going to test that chin. I’m going to do whatever I got to do for it to be a clinical performance on Saturday,” said Dubois.
