Boxing News 24
Christian Mbilli is unbeaten, unproven, and couldn’t care less about playing it safe.. On Friday, June 27, he headlines at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City against Maciej Sulecki for the WBC Interim Super Middleweight title, live on ESPN+ (6 PM ET / 3 PM PT).
The French-Canadian wrecking ball has stopped 23 of 28 opponents and now wants something bigger. That something? Canelo. But first, he’s got to get through Sulecki—a tough Polish spoiler with no fear and nothing to lose.

Mbilli wants a belt—and Canelo’s attention
Mbilli’s chasiong a payday with boxing’s golden goose. “The belt will be coming home,” he said. “And if Canelo’s watching, he knows what’s next.” Subtle? No. Effective? We’ll see.
He’s not wrong to talk big. The résumé’s clean, the power’s real, and the hometown crowd will be loud. But Sulecki’s not showing up to be a warm body. The same guy who gave Danny Jacobs a decent scrap and iced Akhmedov in Kazakhstan has every intention of ruining Mbilli’s big night. “He can talk about his plans,” Sulecki said. “But he has to fight me first.”
One’s trying to launch a takeover. The other’s happy to crash the party.
Why the undercard might steal the show
Forget filler. The undercard’s loaded with potential chaos:
-
Steven Butler wants revenge after being stopped by Jose De Jesus Macias in 2021.
-
Arslanbek Makhmudov returns to bash heads, this time against unbeaten Ricardo Brown.
-
And there’s no shortage of Canadian talent sprinkled across every weight class—plenty of swing fights, regional straps, and bad blood.
If you like knockouts, weird scorecards, and last-minute drama, it’s worth tuning in before the main event.
Questions You Might Be Asking
Is this Mbilli’s first real step up?
Yes. It’s his first shot at a version of a world title and against a legit veteran. Time to find out if the hype’s real.
Could Mbilli fight Canelo next?
Only if he flattens Sulecki and makes enough noise. Canelo doesn’t take charity cases—Mbilli has to force the issue.
Where’s the fight happening?
Videotron Centre in Quebec City. Mbilli’s backyard, basically. Expect roars if he so much as throws a jab.
What time does it all start?
ESPN+ goes live at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT. The main event ring walks? Likely around 9 PM ET—but don’t blink.
Is the undercard worth watching?
Definitely. Makhmudov hits like a truck, Butler wants redemption, and Guerrero’s defending his belt. That’s three good reasons already.

Mbilli’s swinging for the belt—and maybe for boxing’s biggest name. If he smashes Sulecki like he’s promising, Quebec will explode and the Canelo talk becomes very real. But if he slips, stutters, or gets dragged into deep waters? All that ambition evaporates in a hurry.
