Edgar Berlanga took issue with Turki Alashikh, saying on X that he’ll be “very upset” if he knocks out Hamzah Sheeraz on July 12th because he’s got “big plans” for him. In other words, Turki wants Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs) to lose, and he’s backing Hamzah (21-0-1, 17 KOs) to do the job on him.
Turki Alalshikh’s Canelo Plan
Berlanga is NOT in Turki’s big plans for early 2026; Sheeraz is. That’s got to get the kettle boiling with the proud Brooklyn, New York native, Berlanga, to be passed over for the rematch with Canelo Alvarez. For him not to even be in consideration for Turki suggests that he’s not ‘The Chosen One’ with him.
This week, Turki said Ring Magazine that Sheeraz and Chris Eubank Jr. are his two options for Canelo Alvarez’s fight in February.”If all goes well, we’ll have Canelo back in February. It will be one of two options—Sheeraz or Eubank.”
Berlanga: “Ruin Turki’s Day”
Berlanga says Turki will be “upset” because he’s coming to ruin his day next month his 12-round super middleweight main event on DAZN PPV at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.
Edgar will be looking to knock out Hamzah Sheeraz to ensure that he doesn’t wind up losing out on a victory against him. We saw what happened with Hamzah’s last opponent, WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames, who dominated him for 12 rounds, but had to settle for a draw last February. I watched the fight and had it 11-1 for Adames, and so many boxing fans on social media.
If Berlanga blasts Sheeraz out, it’s going to put Turki in a position where he’s going to look bad by choosing not to use him as Canelo’s next opponent. U.S fans won’t want to see Berlanga ignored and Eubank Jr. getting the fight instead.
Don’t worry you’ll be upset! I’m going mess up your day July 12th! I’m going to destroy your boy 😤😤😤😤 https://t.co/7DhvAQwZmv
